OUTREACH

Southern Ballet Theatre is a premier dance company in the Southeast dedicated to educating, promoting and increasing appreciation of dance. Since 1991, SBT has been inspiring individuals and families through the performing arts, regardless of financial, physical or mental ability.

Community

Art

Happiness

Health

Southern Ballet Theatre’s Outreach program is built on four principles that we believe speak to everyone. Community, Art, Happiness, and Health.

Community is where we live, grow, and raise our family…we need to share our talents and gifts with everyone to make our community better each and every day.

Art is a universal language, you do not have to speak one word or phrase to evoke happiness, sadness, meaning, and inspiration.

Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, a feeling of excitement. We strive to bring happiness and laughter to those around us with dance and entertainment.

Health is a state of physical, mental, and social well-being. We use the power of the Arts to entertain and to enrich the lives of others.

SPECIAL ED PROGRAM

Southern Ballet Theatre is dedicated to the education of individuals and families through the performing arts, regardless of financial, physical or mental ability.

Our Special Ed Program provides free classes to children with intellectual, medical and/or physical disabilities. All the dancers in the program have the opportunity to perform with Southern Performing Arts Academy.

Angela Graham is the Special Ed program director. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy, a Masters Degree in Autism and Emotional Behavior Disorders, and Early Childhood certification. She uses music therapy and a combination of tap and creative movement in her weekly classes.

ANGELA GRAHAM

One of my passions in life is to provide individuals with special needs the opportunity to feel free to express themselves though the performing arts! My passion was fulfilled 7 years ago when I was given the opportunity to establish the first special needs dance class at SBT! I have taught dancing for the last 20 years specializing in tap instruction. Along with my love for the performing arts; I continued to follow my passion in working with students and received a Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy, a Masters Degree in Autism and Emotional Behavior Disorders, and Early Childhood certification. This year will be my 16th year teaching at Kennedy Elementary in Barrow County. I have been married for 14 years to Michael Graham and have 4 amazing boys: Ashton, Jayden, Logan, and Mitchell. If not at school or the studio, I am on the soccer fields cheering on the boys and or at church directing and singing with the choir!

REACHING OUT

Southern Ballet Theatre presents critically-acclaimed theater performances, public school demonstrations, art festivals and other community activities throughout the year.

We continually strive to reach all demographic types, exposing them to the art of dance and performance. You can find SBT out in the community providing demonstrations for our Public Libraries, our Local Schools, Hospitals, and wherever else we believe we can spread the power of dance.
